Why we're sharing our shipping data

The COVID-19 pandemic is the defining moment of this decade.

Business models are being flipped upside down. Ecommerce penetration made a decade leap in just a couple months and we went from the high teens to over 30% of retail happening online.

Standard supply chains have been turned inside out. All shipping carriers are seeing more volume every day compared to the holiday peak volume from last year. Some carriers are adjusting well, some are struggling, and everybody is adapting at different speeds to keep up with demand.

That is exactly why weโ€™re providing you, the brand builders, the creators, the operators, with insight into what weโ€™re seeing with the shipping carriers that ShipBob leverages within our fulfillment network across the United States like UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL.

ShipBob's new gift notes feature can now be enabled directly from your ShipBob dashboard! 
With this new self-serve Gift Notes settings page, you can toggle on and off gift notes and upload your brand logo. 

Enabling gift notes unlocks 3 ways to add custom gift messages to order and allow you and your customers to have a positive, personalized unboxing experience: 1) automatic gift. note ingestion for ShipStation, ShipBobโ€™s Developer API, Shopify, and WooCommerce integrations, 2) add gift messages when you upload orders via Excel, and 3) edit orders manually before pick and pack to add a gift message. You now have the ability to add or remove items in bulk directly from the orders page in the merchant dashboard. This time-saving action will allow items to be added or removed within a few minutes without having to submit a support request.

We added a new US location in Portland (Hillsboro), OR to support fast, cost-effective shipments within the Pacific Northwest region. See all locations 

๐Ÿšš  New carrier: OSM Worldwide
To ensure quick and affordable delivery to our merchants we added a new carrier (OSM Worldwide) to help reduce shipping costs and increase overall shipping capacity. OSM will be leveraged as one for standard ground shipments from our Moreno Valley location.


๐Ÿ”  Dashboard Returns Export
You can now export returns directly from the Returns page to systematically view all returns, and identify the fulfillment center and status of each return.

โœ…  Buy ShipBob labels for WROs to submit WROs Quicker
You no longer need to use the old WRO creation flow to purchase ShipBob labels. Shipping labels can now be purchased and generated for WROs directly within the new WRO creation flow. Learn more.

We require postal codes to match the correct format, based on the country. Any failures will result in the order being placed On Hold.

We have created a new user preference within the mange user section of the ShipBob dashboard called โ€œCustomer Success - Billing Restrictedโ€, which will now restrict customer success users to view billing information from the analytics dashboard and the merchant application.

๐Ÿ“ฆ  FedEx Crossborder
Weโ€™ve added FedEx CrossBorder to our list of carrier services to improve international delivery from our 17+ US-based fulfillment centers. We will start shipping with FedEx CrossBorder on 8/17 out of Bethlehem and Moreno Valley and will expand to additional locations later this year. 


๐Ÿ“  Custom Gift Notes
Provide a personalized unboxing experience by placing gift notes in packages. Gift notes will print in black and white on ShipBob's 4"x6" thermal paper and can display up to 500 text and special characters for your customer. We'll also display your brand logo on the gift note if desired. Gift notes are available for Shopify and WooCommerce Merchants. Learn more here.

๐Ÿ–Š  Edit WROs
Weโ€™re making it easier for you to update submitted WROs! You can now edit Fulfillment Center, Estimated Arrival Date (until WRO is in Awaiting Arrival status) and PO# (any WRO status) in a submitted WRO. Learn more here


๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง  โ†’ ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ  UK to EU Shipping
You can now ship from the UK to the EU leveraging DPD. This means that brands at our Manchester and London fulfillment centers can ship orders to EU destinations as well as within the UK.  This is a good option for brands who are not currently shipping enough volume to the EU to merit storing inventory at our Ireland location. 

โฑ  Walmart Inventory Sync
ShipBob can now update inventory stock counts to the Walmart Marketplace when auto or manual syncs are running. The Walmart auto-sync schedule can be set to every 15, 30, or 60 minutes. Learn more here.

The order timeline on the order detail page now shows who canceled an order.


๐Ÿ—บ  Ideal Distribution

You can now view, add, and edit, destination-based fulfillment rules (i.e. only fulfill orders going to the UK from our UK fulfillment center, do not fulfill order to the UK from the Ireland fulfillment center) in your dashboard.

๐Ÿ–Š  Bulk Order Edits (by request)
You can now make bulk changes to orders instead of editing each order one by one. Multiple orders can be edited in less than a few minutes by the ShipBob team. To request bulk order edits, please contact your Merchant Success Manager or

๐Ÿ“ Select FC when creating orders via API
We have updated our developer API to allow merchants the ability to tell us which fulfillment center to use when creating an order. Location_id is the newest attribute added to the method for creating orders.  Learn more here.

Weโ€™ve added two new US locations: Ontario, CA and Atlanta, GA  These new locations enable you to distribute their inventory across more of our fulfillment centers and take advantage of faster shipping times to the West Coast and Southeast regions.  You can request access and start generating WROs for these locations today. 


๐Ÿ”Œ  Shopify Inventory Sync Enhancements 

- New Inventory Quantity Sync is purpose-built to help you minimize overselling. The new feature compares counts between Shopify and ShipBob about every 15 minutes, compared to the usual 2-3 hours. By using our smart logic, the inventory quantity will only update in Shopify if ShipBob shows lower stock levels or ShipBob has a stock increase due to restocking, warehouse receiving orders, etc. Learn more.

- New Inventory Threshold helps you avoid overselling by giving you the flexibility to keep a set amount of inventory on hand. You have the option to specify a safety buffer when syncing inventory quantities with Shopify. If your inventory level for any product falls below the value you set, we will post 0 as the sellable quantity for that item to Shopify. Learn more.

Calculate billable weight to estimate your pricing for shipments with our new billable weight estimator located on the pricing page in your ShipBob dashboard. Learn more here.

๐Ÿš€  2 Day Express for Manual Orders 
You now have the ability to select ShipBob 2 Day Express for manually created orders. This is especially important when you need to provide replacement orders for customers who originally selected 2-day shipping. 

๐ŸŽ  Copy and Edit Kitting Requests
You now have the ability to copy and edit completed kitting orders, giving you added control and time savings when submitting recurring or similar kitting order requests.

Define which ShipBob warehouse locations can fulfill shipments based on the order destination.  This feature is currently available via request - contact your Merchant Success Manager or Merchant Care to get set up.  You will be able to set up the rules within the merchant dashboard later in July.

๐Ÿ“ฆ  BOL attachment for B2B orders
We added a new order attachment type: Bill of Lading (BOL) B2B freight orders, which indicate an order is ready to be picked up by a freight carrier. Once you upload the BOL, the order will move from on-hold.


๐Ÿ”Œ  Walmart Integration and TwoDay Partnership  
We have a 
new and improved Walmart Integration to support our merchants selling on Walmart Marketplace. Additionally, ShipBob is now an official partner of Walmartโ€™s TwoDay delivery program.  Merchants who partner with ShipBob get 2-day delivery with 100% coverage across the continental and the ability to increase conversions with 2-day delivery badges in filters, search results, and listings. ๐Ÿ’ต  Origin and Destination Pricing for Global FCs
View Ireland, Canada, and UK based pricing in your merchant dashboard, in addition to destination-based pricing from all United States fulfillment centers.  Learn more here.


๐Ÿšš  Regional Carriers
We have added two new carriers to the ShipBob US carrier network to help provide you with reduced transit times, fast and affordable 2-Day Express coverage, and the ability to offset congestion with the larger carriers. Lone Star Overnight (LSO) will be servicing Texas to cover the greater Dallas-area fulfillment centers, including GV1, GV2, and Carrollton. OnTrac will be servicing the West Coast, including our Moreno Valley, CA fulfillment center.  ShipBob will automatically leverage these regional carriers when it is optimal.

We now support the ability to purchase return labels when an order has been shipped from our Ottawa fulfillment center.

Get 2-Day Express Shipping on any ecommerce platform with ShipBob's new 2-Day Express ship option.  2-Day Express is available for all existing merchants, and provides you the ability to offer 100% 2-day shipping coverage to your customers across the continental US.

Now merchants can view all ShipBob FCs by region on the locations page in the merchant web app. ShipBob recommends inventory distribution to be closer to your end customers and reduce shipping times and costs.


๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ  Expedited Shipping for Canada
We enabled FedEx as a carrier for our Canada FC shipments. This will allow merchants to use an expedited service level for orders shipping from our Canada Fulfillment Center. FedEx will also be available for standard orders out of the Canada FC.

We now support on hold order status webhook in our new developer APIs. This will allow merchants and partners to closely monitor when the status of their orders moves to on-hold in real-time. See 


๐ŸŽ  Kitting Flow and Price Estimator
We launched a new and improved 
kitting order creation process with a new price estimator that displays standard pricing upfront so merchants know how much each kit will cost. The new flow includes additional measures in place to ensure our Operations team is equipped with as much information as possible from the order itself for quick, efficient kitting services. ๐Ÿ“ฆ  Pick by lot for B2B orders
When creating B2B orders, merchants can now create orders that contain a specific lot ID/expiration date per product to unlock added flexibility and control over B2B fulfillment, especially for perishable goods, product versions, and retailer-specific timing. Learn more 

โš™๏ธ Return to sender (RTS)
ShipBob merchants can now use merchant-defined actions for return to sender (RTS) returns. Select predefined actions to tell us what to do if an item is returned to ShipBob by the carrier without reaching the intended recipient. This can be especially helpful for merchants who use lot numbers and expiration dates to ensure we are restocking with lots in mind.  Learn more here or watch this video.


โฑ  Flexible and Customizable order import settings for Shopify Merchants
All Shopify merchants will now have the ability to delay the import of orders syncing in from Shopify. This gives you the ability to customize, cancel, change addresses, before importing orders into the ShipBob dashboard. Learn more.

To help us improve receiving timelines and identify your inventory as it is delivered, weโ€™ve added a new field to provide Carrier details in addition to tracking details for your Warehouse Receiving Orders. Learn more.

Building upon our partnership and existing integration, weโ€™ve launched an official ShipBob app listing in Shopifyโ€™s app store.

๐Ÿงน Cleansweep Cancelled Orders
Weโ€™ve enabled new functionality to help merchants clean sweep canceled orders, individually or in bulk, directly from the order page within the merchant dashboard.  Learn more.


๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง  New International Fulfillment Center
We have officially launched our ShipBob United Kingdom fulfillment center in London, England! This is our third international location, joining Canada and Ireland. ShipBob UK is located in London near Heathrow airport and major logistics hubs.  As of today, merchants can request access to the United Kingdom fulfillment center within their ShipBob app, and orders will start shipping from these locations on March 2nd. Learn more about ShipBob UK here.

๐ŸŽ  Kitting
Merchants who submit kitting requests will see a new and improved experience within their merchant app that includes a new kitting order type and order filtering capabilities.


๐Ÿšš  Receiving 
We've made the process for receiving floor loaded containers (FLC) easier for merchants. Merchants no longer need to configure boxes for container warehouse receiving orders (WROs), which will allow receiving times on FLCs to be faster.

We have added a cancel shipment and order endpoint to our public developer APIs to reduce manual actions and increase automation.

๐Ÿš€  2-Day Shipping
We have implemented several carrier improvements to our 2-day shipping logic to improve on-time delivery rates. For the past three weeks, the 2-day performance has been 88% across the continental United States and will continue to improve.


๐Ÿšš  Receiving 
Updated label scanning process to our warehouse receiving order (WRO) arrival flow at our fulfillment centers as part of our ongoing commitment to improving and accelerating the receiving process. We have also made UI improvements to the WRO, including unique tracking numbers for WROs, visibility into who created the WRO, and better visibility to UROs comments.

See when an order has been sorted for carrier pickup and when the order has been picked up and by which carrier.

โฑ  Manual On Hold Logs
When moving orders to on-hold manually, merchants can now see first name, last name initial, and company name, providing added transparency into who performed the action.

โฑ  Manual SLA Updates
Weโ€™ve added a log within order timelines to reflect manual SLA updates.

โฑ  Merchant App Timezone
We updated all pages within the merchant app to reflect local browser time zones.
